Formed steel footprints of different shapes and sizes are welded to the steel cylinders, alluding to those who have traversed the square each day for hundreds of years. Footprints are brushed with a darker finish to accentuate their floating quality.

ArtsUnion

ArtsUnion is an initiative to enhance the cultural economic development of Union Square. ArtsUnion presents events and markets, cultural and historical tours, commissions street furniture and public art, and has revised zoning to provide incentives for arts related development. ArtsUnion is funded by the Mass Cultural Council's John and Abigail Adams Art Program and the City of Somerville.
