Since 1996 youth from Somerville and especially the Mystic Development have participated each summer on the mural project.   Typically between 7 to 10 youth work for a minimum of 20 hours each week for six weeks.  Some youth return years later to volunteer.   The youth are selected for their passion to work, learn about the Mystic watershed, and their desire to learn mural design.
