Nibble Cooking Classes

We’re announcing fall 2017 Classes!

Mexican Cooking with Estela Calzada, Tuesday, Nov. 14, 6:30-9: ; $45 for class and full meal; Foundation Kitchen, 3 Washington Street, Somerville

A native of Durango, Mexico, Estela Calzada will teach attendees to create a Mexican meal speaking Spanish —while we offer full translation into English. We will make Chiles en Nogada, a complex dish that hails from Puebla, Mexico and represents the Mexican flag through its colors: poblano chilis are stuffed with a mixture of meat, spices and dried fruit and covered in a white nut creme sauce that is sprinkled with red pomegranate seeds. Trust us, Estela’s version of this dish is amazing. We will also make a Mexican rice and agua de nopales (a refreshing and nutritious cactus juice). For dessert, we’ll make Camotes Enmielados (candied sweet potatoes with piloncillo). Once our feast is ready, we will sit down and eat and learn more about Mexican culinary and cultural traditions. Estela works at Olé restaurant and helped shaped the new menu there. When it comes to authentic Mexican cooking, she’s the real deal!  BUY TIX HERE.

***This class features nuts as an ingredient—as well as meat***

Stay tuned for more information on more classes: Peruvian, Somali, and Ethiopian!

Take a tour of Union Square markets!

Union Square’s numerous markets offer a wealth of culinary delights. These small markets are not only ethnically diverse – ranging from Brazilian to Bengali – they serve a surprisingly broad clientele, as well. You can visit the shops on your own (see the Markets section or pick up a brochure at City Hall or a Union Square shop) or take a group tour; either way you’ll discover the delicious diversity of Union Square! Each group tour visits three markets. Tours are free but we encourage you to buy a few things during the tour!

Currently there are no upcoming group tours, but we invite you to download one of our guides and take a self-guided tour!
