During the heat of summer, artists and festival goers converge on Davis Square, transforming it into one of the area's largest and most innovative arts festivals. This year's ArtBeat theme is "Spaces/ Places." We will be celebrating distant places with world music, a Japanese Butoh dance performance and a children's flagmaking project, to name just a few examples. We will also be exploring local spaces with an outdoor Hoi Polloi dance performance and "plein air" painters who will depict different views of Davis Square. And finally, artists will also explore imaginary landscapes with projects like the "Little Digs" installation.
