All Day Interactive Art Activities
Footprint Factory
An interactive project with artist Emcee C.M. Participants pick which
wood block prints they would like “mashed” together. Then,
they sit in the shoeshine stand chair and press down the woodblock prints
with their feet. Participants take prints home as a keepsake of the
collaborative creative process.
Mashup Clothing Project
In an age of hip hop and the art of the remix, why settle for mass produced
clothing? Lee Tusman/VoodooArtist will run a workshop on creating customized
mashup remixed clothing. Simple sewing and collaging techniques will
be taught so that anyone (kids and adults) can create and take home
their own one-of-a-kind wearable art of shirts, skirts and more.
Other Activities
There will be numerous artistic activities for children, including sand
art, face painting and balloon animals. There will also be activities
relating to this year’s “Mix & Mash” theme, including:
Mix & Mash Word Blocks, Masala Spice Mixup and Composite Creature
Drawings. The Open Air Circus, including jugglers and unicyclists, will
perform throughout the day.
1pm
& 3pm — Tufts Traveling Treasure Trunk in Statue Park
Founded in 1987, this troupe is a student-run, community service group
that tours around the greater Boston area and raises money for charities.
Trunk writes its own plays, directs its own shows, and makes its own
costumes. Trunk will perform two whimsical pieces for children, at
1pm and 3pm, in Statue Park.
