Arts and Zoning: Two Public Meetings
Where: The Family Center, 366 Somerville Ave (Union Square, near Tir
Na Nog), second floor, room 217
When: Wednesday, August 10, 6:30 pm
Thursday, August 18, 6:30 pm
ABOUT:
As part of the ArtsUnion initiative, the Somerville Arts Council is
working with the Mayor's Office of Strategic Planning and Community
Development to review zoning and ordinances as they relate to the arts
and Union Square.
Do you have experience and/or interest in creating new galleries, performance
spaces and artist live/work space? Are you a street performer or an
artist who creates public installations? If so, please come to these
public meetings and share ideas about how the city can help cultivate
the arts scene through zoning and ordinances.
In the wake of the excitement over ArtsUnion, the Somerville Arts
Council will conduct a zoning/regulation review to further support the
arts and distinct character of the Square. As Mayor Curtatone has said,
"Somerville has more artists per square mile than any other U.S.
city - excluding New York City." ArtsUnion will provide even more
opprtunity and creative spaces for artitsts.
