Cara Foster Karim

I’m a oil painter based in Somerville, Massachusetts. I work with acrylics and other media too, but oils are my first love. My professional background is in urban planning and policy, and my recent paintings reflect that. I primarily paint everyday scenes of nature interacting with the built environment in my own neighborhood. I’m passionate about celebrating and building community in my city, even in the mundane details of life. For me, that is what making art is about.

Bello Paintings

I am an intuitive painter from Somerville, ma. For me painting and art, is therapy. The feeling I get when painting is like listening to a song on the radio that you know is singing specifically to you and your current situation or feelings. I like to paint powerful pieces that will encourage people to have inner strength and show their true beauty no matter what life challenges they are facing; after all Bello means BEAUTIFUL in Italian. I hope my painting will "sing" to you.

Art by CHG

Official Website:

Chandra is an admirer of art as personal expression and dialogue. She strives for art that sparks active thought, as opposed to passive consumption. To that end, she values an aesthetic of complicated simplicity, wherein apparently simple design and composition harbor levels of complexity upon longer observation. On a purely visceral level, it’s all about color, process, and dirty hands. Her passion lies in the act of art; the end result is a happy byproduct.

Rachel Mello

I find myself increasingly sensitive to the interdependence of very separate lives; to differences between us that are simultaneously superficial and profound. I have a deep love for nature, but home has always been in the city. I am deeply touched by communities of people, by the choices we make to find ways of living with and near strangers, and how we connect to and separate ourselves from our neighbors, the natural world, and ourselves.
