Arts at the Armory

The Center for Arts at the Armory (Arts at the Armory) is a non-profit organization located at 191 Highland Avenue between Davis and Union Squares in Somerville, Massachusetts. Arts at the Armory resides in the historic Armory building, serving as a community arts center for the residents of Greater Somerville.

Artisan's Asylum

Supports and promotes the teaching, learning and practicing of craft of all varieties.  With a new facility in the Ames building outside of Union Square.  The Asylum includes a fully equipped and professionally maintained manufacturing facility, which includes capabilities for precision metal machining, electrical fabrication, welding, woodworking, sewing & fiber arts, robotics, bicycle building and repair, and screenprinting.

Boston Acting Classes

Located in the heart of Davis Square, offering acting classes that include: Intro to Acting, Intermediate Acting, and Scene Study. Private coaching for acting and public speaking is also offered.
 

Boston School of Painting

Somerville based Boston School of Painting aims to provide serious art students, and professional working artists alike, training in the fundamentals and advanced concepts of painting and drawing in the tradition of realism.

Katherine Martin Widmer School of Painting

Whatever your skill level or experience Katherine Martin Widmer has a painting class to help you explore your creativity. Classes are available at beginner intermediate and advanced levels.

Mudflat Studio and Pottery School

Mudflat Studio has offered the metropolitan Boston community a unique opportunity for clay work and play since 1971. As both an exciting, professionally run ceramics school and home to 34 clay artists, Mudflat follows its mission to promote and expand awareness and interest in the ceramic arts. Together, the school and studio form a dynamic community centered on a single medium and a shared creative process.

Mudville Pottery

Mudville is a teaching studio for adults that has been operating for more than 25 years. The work done at Mudville is primarily wheel-thrown pottery. Beginners are welcome!

OPENAIR Circus

The OPENAIR Circus is a non-profit circus offering summer classes for children as well as workshops and performance opportunities for people of all ages.
 

Parts and Crafts

The Parts and Crafts Collective is a group of thinkers, teachers, and tinkerers in the Boston area who are interested in helping people build, think, create, succeed, fail, and learn. We run hands-on creative arts, science, and engineering programs for kids and adults to help people learn and do and make things.
 

Somerville Community Access Television

Somerville Community Access Television (SCATV) is the public access station for Somerville providing video production facilities equipment and training for Somerville residents and organizations. SCATV cablecasts community produced and sponsored non-commercial programming. Facilities include studios, digital camcorders, and edit suites all of which is offered to members free of charge.

Somerville String Camp

Since 1993 String Camp has been offered to children and adults who play the violin, viola, cello or bass are welcome. Offerings include lessons, orchestras, chamber music, theory improvisation, and ear training. Scholarships are available. String Camp is sponsored by the Somerville Public School Music Department.

SpaceFinder Mass is a free online directory that makes communication between creative spaces and potential renters more efficient, largely due to its advanced search function. This search component enables venues to promote their space based on technical specifications, pricing, availability, the type of events suitable for their space and more. These filter capabilities assure that organizations receive inquiries from renters serious and educated about what their space has to offer.
